These chef paintings are fun. I want them to be whimsical. After all, who doesn't enjoy a good chef? I'm playing around with different brushes, learning how the strokes vary depending on what brush is used.
I was listening to that beer commercial on the radio - you know, the one with "the most interesting man in the world" - and decided to paint something incorporating the Dos Equis logo.
I like to paint small, as you can probably tell. That way I can finish in an hour or two while I'm still excited about the piece. Also, someone once told me it is better to make a small mess than a large one, and I agree!
Another Bahamas painting. I liked some things about the previous one, but wanted to add a boat as a focal point to give a sense of scale to the distant cliff.
These still-life studies have been fun. I'm trying to make my flowers look edgy and contemporary. I have a lot to learn, but the learning process is one of the things that attracts me to painting.
I must say I'm enjoying my weekend of painting still-lifes! It's fun to play with the design of the flowers and background. It's also fun to play with the edges, leaving some crisp while softening others.
I don't usually paint still-lifes, but I didn't have a particular subject in mind today so I put a couple of roses in a glass and decided to paint that.
