I like to paint small, as you can probably tell. That way I can finish in an hour or two while I'm still excited about the piece. Also, someone once told me it is better to make a small mess than a large one, and I agree!
Another Bahamas painting. I liked some things about the previous one, but wanted to add a boat as a focal point to give a sense of scale to the distant cliff.
These still-life studies have been fun. I'm trying to make my flowers look edgy and contemporary. I have a lot to learn, but the learning process is one of the things that attracts me to painting.
I must say I'm enjoying my weekend of painting still-lifes! It's fun to play with the design of the flowers and background. It's also fun to play with the edges, leaving some crisp while softening others.
I don't usually paint still-lifes, but I didn't have a particular subject in mind today so I put a couple of roses in a glass and decided to paint that.
